Car slowly being swallowed by sand after being left stranded on beach 'for weeks'

An abandoned car is slowly sinking on a beach after it was reportedly left there "weeks ago".

Incredible pictures have shown a car disappearing into the sand at Thurstaston Beach.

The images show the Jeep four by four with broken windows, in a huge puddle of water.

Crabs have also reportedly been seen crawling all over the vehicle.

Ben Ekins, from Liscard, said the car had been on the beach since around June 25.

The 18-year-old claimed at first the Coastguard was called to investigate if there were any injuries, but after it was established no one was hurt the matter was passed over to other authorities.

He said: "The tide just keeps coming in and out and it's getting deeper in the sand. It's getting to be a weird thing to see.

"No one is too bothered, but everyone is walking past and saying 'Is that car still there? How long has that car been there now?'"

Ben, who visits the beach regularly, shared pictures of the wrecked car, as it can be seen looking unrecognisable.
