Car slams into unit complex at Glendale, residents escape injury

Emergency crews were called to a unit complex at Glendale on Thursday night where a car had crashed into a ground-floor home.

Firefighters and police were called to the scene at Lake Road about 11.30pm.

In a post on social media on Friday morning, Fire and Rescue NSW's Cardiff crew said the crash caused "substantial structural damage to the frame of the building and outside brickwork".

The occupants of both the car and unit block escaped serious injury.

Fire crews cleaned a small oil spill coming from under the car and the Lambton Technical Response appliance was brought in to take precautions against any threat of the building's structural collapse.

"Police notified the occupants of the above storeys that they would need alternative accommodation until structural engineers assess the building later this morning," the Cardiff crew said.
