Cops launch investigation after car torched in Chapelhall street

A car was set on fire in a Chapelhall street in the early hours of this morning.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at Lammermuir Way at around 1.20am on Friday.

The car involved was a silver Land Rover Range Rover; fire crews attended and safely extinguished the fire.

A man was seen running away from the scene in the direction of Lancaster Avenue, and is described as wearing dark clothing with the hood up.

Detective Constable Craig McLean of Lanarkshire CID said: “Thankfully there have been no injuries as a result of this reckless act.

“Although this incident took place in the early hours of the morning, I would ask that if anyone has any information that they get in touch with officers.

“I would also appeal to those who have possible dash-cam footage or were driving in the area at the time to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0214 of Friday, October 2; or alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
