Car seized for being uninsured and notified 'off the road'

Police have seized a vehicle that was being illegally driven in Wythenshawe.

Checks revealed that the vehicle had been notified as "off the road" and also had an expired test certificate, Greater Manchester Police said in a tweet on Sunday morning (January 9).

In addition, the driver was without any valid insurance for the vehicle.

The vehicle was impounded and the driver was reported for the offences, police added.

GMP tweeted: "This vehicle caught the eye of #XT14 as it drove around @GMPWythenshawe.

"Checks revealed the vehicle was notified off road & had an expired test certificate. The driver had also forgot to take out any insurance.

"Vehicle seized #165 & driver reported @DriveInsured."

When a vehicle is registered as "off the road" it means that a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) has been issued by the DVLA and, therefore, it must not be driven.
