Car seized after driver treats roads in Trafford 'like a game of Grand Theft Auto'

A car has been seized by police after officers say the driver had been treating roads in Trafford 'like a game of Grand Theft Auto'.

Officers said the motorist of the Volkswagen Golf had been driving 'in a dangerous manner' around the area in the last few days.

The car repeatedly made off from police, driving in a reckless 'Grand Theft Auto-style'.

But last night, police spotted it parked up and seized the car.

The Golf is now in a police compound and a prosecution case is being prepared, police said.

An officer posted a picture of the blue modified Volkswagen Golf next to a police car on the GMP Trafford South Facebook page.

Alongside the picture, they wrote: "Over the last few days this VW Golf has been making off from me for no apparent reason. Some of you may have even seen it driving in a dangerous manner around South Trafford."

"I have been proactively looking for the Golf to take it off the road to prevent anyone being hurt by someone who thinks the streets of Trafford is a game of Grand Theft Auto.

"Last night the Golfs luck was up. I sighted it parked a few streets away from the town centre and arranged for it to be recovered using my powers under the police reform act, you may know it as a Section 59 warning for all you racers out there.

"Thankfully the car is now in a police compound and wheels are in motion for a prosecution case.

"Moral of the story, don’t think you can keep driving how you want and putting lives at risk, we always catch up with you."
