Car seen doing 'handbrake turns' crashes into house as driver flees

A car smashed into the wall of a house in Wavertree this lunchtime.

The driver made off from the scene after the incident in Broadwood Street just after midday today (Friday, October 23).

Unconfirmed reports said the car was "doing wheelies [handbrake turns]" before the driver smashed into the side of the house.

The front of the white Suzuki Swift was left badly damaged but there were no injuries reported.

Firefighters and police attended the scene.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Just after midday, officers were called to reports of a Suzuki Swift having collided with a wall.

"Damage was caused but no reported injuries. The driver is believed to have made off and enquiries are ongoing to locate them. The car will be forensically recovered."
