Car's entire roof removed and person taken to hospital after crash

One person was taken to hospital after a crash on the A38 in Langford, near Weston.

Two cars collided on the route, at around 5:15pm today (Friday, October 8) near to the Budgen's store.

Firefighters cut free one person from a car by removing the vehicle's entire roof.

Dramatic photographs from the scene show the car has been completely destroyed following the smash.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said two crews from Weston and and one from Temple attended the collision.

He said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

"Upon arrival, we could one person was out of their vehicle uninjured.

"Another was trapped in their car. We had to use hydraulic cutting equipment and take the roof off.

"The casualty was then handed to the ambulance service who took them to hospital."

A spokesperson for Weston Fire Station tweeted: "Both trucks straight out the door this evening to an RTC persons trapped.

"It was all hands to the deck with a full vehicle roof removal to release the casualty, now in the hands of SwasFT.
