Car roof cut open to free driver after vehicle flips over in residential street in Llanelli

A man was taken to hospital after a car flipped onto its side on a residential street in Llanelli .

The single-vehicle crash happened at around 2am on Sunday morning in Frondeg Terrace, a short distance from the town centre.

Pictures from the scene show the car on its side with its roof cut open after firefighters used specialist equipment to free the driver, who was trapped inside.

Police officers and ambulance personnel were also in attendance and the road was closed for almost two hours.

The car - a Citroen C2 - is understood to have crashed into a parked vehicle, causing it to flip.

A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to a road traffic accident in Frondeg Terrace in Llanelli at 2.06am on Sunday morning.

“One casualty was physically trapped and had to be released by firefighters who used hydraulic cutting equipment, small gear, spreaders and a saw.

“Crews made the area safe and left the scene shortly before 3am.”

The man trapped inside the car was taken to hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known but they are not thought to be life threatening.
