The two men were found in possession of cannabis, suspected class A drugs and a large amount of money.

During a later raid of their homes, a quantity of cannabis, cash, suspected Class A drugs and drug paraphernalia were also seized.

The 21-year-old from Birkdale and the 38-year-old from Southport both remain in custody.

The two have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug.

Inspector Simon Wilson said: "Thankfully due to the quick thinking of our patrols in Southport last night, these harmful drugs have now been prevented from reaching our communities.

“Information from the public plays a vital part in targeting individuals involved in the supply of drugs and serious and organised crime, and I would like to continue to urge our communities to come forward to us, or to Crimestoppers completely anonymously, so that we can take action.”

Anyone with information on the supply of drugs is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
