The Coast Guard, Gardaí and a local search and rescue group were all required on Sunday evening as a car plunged into the water in Clogherhead in Louth.
Calls were made to the Boyne Fishermans Rescue and Recovery at around 8pm on Sunday evening with a report of a car entering the water at Clogherhead Pier.
At the time, it was unknown if the car had occupants.
The underwater search unit was tasked immediately, with the inshore rescue boat also being launched by the Boyne crew, as well as three mobile units.
Once they had reached the scene, they linked up with the Coast Guard and Garda units from Clogherhead.
The underwater search unit was also called for in order to conduct a primary search.

Following the dive with nothing to report a marker buoy was placed on the vehicle to mark location.
Crews stood down at that stage - but a second crew had to attend a separate incident while attending the incident with the car.
A call came in about a male in a distressed state at the waters edge between Fiddler Case Pier and Drogheda Port.
The group launched a second inshore rescue boat to attend the man in distress and proceeded to the scene.
Upon arrival, the crew located a male matching the description - and thankfully, the man was ok.
