Car ploughs into pedestrians at bar in Costa del Sol resort of Marbella

A car has plowed into several people sat on a terrace at a bar in the Costa del Sol holiday resort of Marbella.

Police and paramedics rushed to the premises in an area of the town centre near the beachfront which is full of cafes and eateries and is hugely popular with tourists.

Distressing images being published in the last few minutes show casualties being tended to by well-wishers as police cordon off the scene - the Mirror UK reports.

Videos posted on social media show police officers at the scene as they deal with the incident.

Police have not confirmed how many people have been hurt and whether anyone could have been killed.

According to El Español, five people have been injured in the incident at 3.25pm today.

One of the injured people is said to be in a serious condition.

The bar is in a street called Avenida Miguel Cano, near the spot where holidaymakers start tours of the Marbella in horse-drawn carriages.

Police have yet to make any official comment on the incident.

A local resident claimed that the person who was driving the car has been taken away by five or six police officers.
