Car ploughs into lamp post in Prestwich

A car ploughed into a lamp post on a busy road in Prestwich.

The vehicle crashed on Bury Old Road at around 11am on Sunday.

It is understood that the driver escaped the vehicle unharmed.

The crash happened in front a group of boys and pedestrians, a witness said.

The driver is understood to have escaped without serious injuries (Lawrence Purcell)

Photographs taken at the scene show the badly damaged white car blocking part of the road in front of onlookers.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the crash was not believed to be serious.
