Car ploughs into house in horror Glasgow crash leaving pensioner in hospital

A pensioner is in hospital after a car ploughed into a house in a horror Glasgow crash.

Police and fire crews raced to Edinburgh Road, in the Cranhill area of the city, at around 8.40pm on Wednesday September 16.

Officers say the motor lost control right before careering through a fence and smashing into the property.

A 73-year-old woman was raced to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The incident took place on Edinburgh Road in the Cranhill area of Glasgow (Google Maps)

The nature of her injuries and current condition is yet to be confirmed.

Fire crews confirmed they attended the incident. 

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman told the Record: "We were called at 20.43 to an incident on Edinburgh Road, Glasgow.

"Four appliances attended.

"We have no more information as this is a police incident."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Record: "At around 8:40pm on Wednesday, September 16 police received a single vehicle road crash.

"The car appeared to lose control and crash into a fence before colliding with the wall of a house in Edinburgh Road, Cranhill. 

"Emergency service attended and a 73-year-old woman was taken to the Glasgow Royal.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the crash."
