Car ploughs into 'attempted lynching' protesters and speeds off with woman on hood

Horrifying footage shows a car plow into a woman who holds onto the hood for dear life as she protested the alleged attempting lynching of a black man.

The shocking clip shows the woman being struck by the car during a Black Lives Matter protest  in Bloomington, Indiana, midwest US.

The video was shared on social media and was reportedly filmed by local man Rodney Root, who told CNN the car "struck her and sped off at full speed."

The woman holds onto the hood of the red car as it speeds down the road. A man grabs onto the driver's side door in an attempt to stop them.

Mr Root told how the terrifying incident began when a protester attempted to block the road with their scooter.

He said: "There was a man attempting to hold traffic with an electric scooter and the passenger of the car got out, slammed the scooter to the ground and got back in.

"A lady ran up to confront the car and the car struck her and sped off at full speed. I was so shocked I started chasing and stopped the video."

Other footage shared on social media shows a man getting out of what seems to a red Toyota Corrolla and fling the scooter aside, as Mr Root described.

Shouts of "Get out of the way, get out of the way!" can be heard.

The person filming the incident as it breaks out then begins to move towards the car as it revs its engine.

A woman lets out a piercing shriek as the Toyota pulls away.

The person filming shouts: "Yo, what the f**k! Yo, they are not stopping! He is still on the car!

"Holy f**k they won't get off the car!"

Protesters chase after the car.

Later, reporters from WTRV claimed to have captured footage of the woman being put into an ambulance.

The extent of injuries are unclear.

The alleged 'attempted lynching' of activist Vauhxx Booker at Lake Monroe sparked the protest.

On July 4, Mr Booker shared video and pictures in a disturbing Facebook post, which he says shows a group of men with Confederate flags allegedly pinning him against a tree, jumping on his neck, yanking his hair and calling for 'a noose'.
