Car parks in Skegness 'unlawfully occupied' by travellers

Two car parks on the Lincolnshire coast are "nearly full" after a group of travellers pitched up.

East Lindsey District Council says it will now take legal action to remove the groups from the parks in Skegness.

Pictures from the town, which is popular with Nottingham daytrippers, show the Hildreds car park and Richmond Drive Coach Park have become "unlawfully occupied", Lincolnshire Live reports.

In a statement, East Lindsey District Council said: "We are aware that two of our car parks in Skegness (Hildreds and Richmond Drive Coach Park) are being unlawfully occupied.

"We will be commencing legal proceedings tomorrow (Wednesday, August 13) to secure a repossession order from the court."

Photos from people in Skegness show that a number of caravans are parked at the car parks.

One poster said that the Hildreds car park was "nearly full, as well as the coach park near Lidl."
