The first car park mobile booking application has been introduced in Thailand. Called Park 2 Go, it was launched by the automated parking system provider Parkplus.
The company plans to spend 300-400 million baht next year to expand parking lots in the Greater Bangkok area. This will include the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers at each car park building.
Park 2 Go aims to meet the demands of motorists in the metropolitan area, said Mr Abhiram Sitakalin, managing director of Parkplus.
Park 2 Go managing director Vanita Srifuengfung said they had been developing the app for about two years. It is now available on Apple iOS. The company expects to introduce the app on Google Android early next year.
Ms. Vanita said users can book parking spaces up to four hours in advance, paying a booking fee of 20-100 baht per hour. The prices depend on location, with commercial districts being charged at a higher rate.
App users can check parking space availability at 800 buildings.
The company plans to export the app to other countries such as China, South Korea and Japan in the near future.
