Car overturns on M90 as drivers warned to take care amid icy conditions

A car flipped onto its roof on the M90 on Saturday night, as drivers were warned to take care amid icy conditions on the roads.

The accident took place around Junction 1a near the Queensferry Crossing shortly after 11pm.

Police and an ambulance were at the scene and two lanes of the motorway were closed. before reopening later in the night.

The crash came as the company which maintains the roads in the south east of Scotland said gritters would be out overnight.

Temperatures around Edinburgh were well below freezing on Saturday night through conditions are expected to become milder in the week ahead.

Amey said: "All our routes have been treated this afternoon with a second treatment planned overnight. Happy St Andrew's day and take care out there - its a bit chilly."
