Car overturns on Caerau Road in Newport adding to Christmas traffic delays

A car overturned and ended up on its roof following a crash on a residential street in Newport.

Emergency services responded to a report of a car on its roof on Caerau Road at about 4.55pm on Monday.

Gwent Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were all in attendance.

Eyewitnesses said the road was blocked to traffic in both directions with motorists diverted through the city centre.

A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said response vehicles were stood down by police at about 5.50pm, with no serious injuries reported.

WalesOnline has asked Gwent Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service for more information about the incident.
