Car overturns near Glasgow school in front of horrified school kids

A car has overturned near a Glasgow school this afternoon as stunned pupils looked on.

The pale-coloured Fiat 500 is seen lying on its side as youngsters stare at the scene.

The accident took place near to Williamwood High School in the Clarkston area of the city's Southside as children were walking home.

A source told the Daily Record that pupils still inside the school were told over a tanoid system to avoid the route.

The vehicle appears to have smashed into a road sign which has now fallen against a tree in a nearby garden.

Emergency services are in attendance at the scene.

It is not yet known if anyone has been injured.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers were called to Eaglesham Road just after 2pm following reports of an RTC. One vehicle has overturned at the scene, near to Williamwood High School.

"One vehicle was overturned and police and and ambulance services are in attendance."
