A person was left trapped in an overturned car following a two-vehicle smash in Trafford.

The individual was rescued by firefighters at the scene following the collision on Park Way in Stretford on Sunday evening.

Police, fire crews and paramedics raced to the scene at around 6.45pm.

Fire crews released the trapped patient, who then received further medical care, a fire service spokesman said.

He said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Park Way in Stretford at 6.45pm.

"Two fire engines were sent to the scene, one from Stretford and another from Eccles.

"Police and North West Ambulance Service were in attendance. The crash involved two vehicles.

"When we arrived there was a car on its roof. One individual was trapped inside the car. We used a longboard to help them from the vehicle.

"Four people were involved in the crash. One person is being helped by North West Ambulance Service paramedics."

It is unclear at this stage how badly injured the trapped patient was.

Fire crews were still at the scene at 7.30pm, the fire spokesman said.
