Car left wrecked in early hours crash with man taken to hospital

A man was taken to hospital after a crash in the early hours of the morning in Oldham.

The smash happened on Manchester Street, near the junction with Frederick Street and where the road merges into Manchester Road, at around 12.35am on Tuesday morning (March 28). Police and paramedics rushed to the scene.

The man suffered head and back injuries, a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said. He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital.

Pictures taken at the scene showed one car left badly damaged. It appeared to have collided with a traffic light.

In a statement, a spokesperson for NWAS said: "We were called at 00.38am on Tuesday morning to reports of an RTC on Manchester Road in Oldham. We sent an ambulance to the scene.

"Paramedics treated one patient with back and head injuries. We took the patient to the Royal Oldham Hospital."

No further information has been provided by Greater Manchester Police.
