Car left 'balancing' on motorway crash barriers in M61 smash as 'lucky' driver only left 'shaken'

A car was left on top of crash barriers in an early-hours smash on the motorway.

Police found the car 'balancing' on top of motorway crash barriers on the M61 southbound where drivers join the M60, on the border between Bolton and Salford.

Motorway officers called the driver 'lucky' after they were only 'shaken' by the crash.

The car and barriers, on the other hand, were left with 'plenty of damage', according to police.

In a North West Motorway Police tweet posted at 2.45am this morning (December 3), officers said: "One of our GMP patrols came across a vehicle balancing on top of the crash barriers on the M61 southbound where you join the M60.

"Driver was shaken not stirred but did leave behind plenty of damage #needsfixing #lucky."
