Car left badly damaged after crashing into a bollard outside Primark in Manchester city centre

A car has been left badly damaged after it crash into a bollard outside Primark in Manchester city centre .

The silver Audi collided with a bollard on Fountain Street at around 4pm on Wednesday.

It also crashed into some bike railings.

The incident happened just outside of the busy Primark store.

Police confirmed they attended the scene alongside the ambulance service.

A spokesperson from GMP said: "North West Ambulance Service attended. The person in the car has been treated at the scene but was not taken to hospital.

"The injuries look to be minor."

An eyewitness said the car had 'heavy frontal damage'.

He said: "I just missed the accident but two police vans and an ambulance were there.

"The car had hit the bike parking stands and destroyed one bike as well as iron railings.

"The Audi airbags had deployed."

Traffic through the city centre was being redirected from Fountain Street to York Street.

The incident has now been cleared.
