Car leaves 16 metre skid mark before smashing into wall in Porterstown, west Dublin

The occupants of a car were lucky to escape with only minor injuries after skidding 16 metres before smashing into a wall in west Dublin.

The terrifying collision took place on Saturday afternoon in Porterstown, Dublin 15.

The car left the huge skid mark before hitting a kerb and then colliding with the wall.

The driver of the car later tested positive for cannabis.

Gardai shared pictures of the aftermath of the crash on social media, saying: "DMR West RPU responded to a collision at Porterstown Rd, D15.

"Car left a 16 metre skid mark, hit a kerb and collided with a concrete wall.

"Driver tested positive for Cannabis, fortunately only minor injuries to occupants of car. Driver arrested & proceedings to follow."

Separately, the DMR Roads Policing Unit earlier seized three vehicles during a road safety operation.

Four drivers were arrested, with one testing positive for cannabis, two testing positive for cannabis and cocaine and one arrested for dangerous driving after being found speeding over 160kph in an 80kph zone.
