Feb. 04--Los Angeles County firefighters spent Wednesday afternoon trying to get a car off a garage roof after the vehicle struck a parked car and somehow went airborne.
"I've been a fireman for 19 years and this is weird to me," said Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Keith Mora. "It's kind of strange."
Crews were called to the 500 block of Palos Verdes Drive about 3:40 p.m. after the vehicle, a dark-colored, four-door sedan, hit a parked car then ended up on a Spanish-tiled garage roof.
Video from the scene by local news outlets appeared to show the collision occurred on an elevated, curved roadway that was almost level with the roof of the garage.
Mora estimated it would take firefighters using a tow truck, slings and other equipment more than an hour to get the vehicle off the roof. County public works officials will inspect the integrity of the building, Mora said.
The driver was transported to a trauma center in stable condition, he said. No other injuries were reported.
Palos Verdes Estates police were investigating the crash.
