One local resident, David Lindsay, told the Record: "I heard a loud bang and I looked out from my door as I stay on Haymarket Street, to the side of Ruchazie Road at Carntyne Road, and there was smoke everywhere. I went round the corner to see what happened and the car was up in flames.

"I hope everyone is ok."
