Car gangs targeting sporty Fords for their upgraded parts

A gang snatched a sought-after Ford Fiesta sports model from the driveway of its owner.

Graham Dymock and his wife Laura were fast asleep in bed as the car thieves struck in the middle of the night.

He blasted: “I cannot believe they managed to get it so easily.

“I have had the car since it was brand new and I am devastated.”

A security camera in a neighbouring street picked up two men in the car moments after it was taken from Dargavel Village in Bishopton.

The Fiesta is the number one stolen car in the UK, accounting for 12 per cent of all thefts.

Graham’s red ST model was taken at 1.30am on Wednesday.

He said: “We never heard a thing. My wife Laura went to take the dog out in the morning and said the car was gone.

“I am appealing for more neighbours to get in touch to get some better footage.

“One camera in the next street spotted two men park up the car, get out, then two men appeared back ten minutes later and sped away.”

He believes the gang may have used an electronic gadget to get into and start the car.

His Ring camera system on his doorbell showed the car there at 1.28am and by 1.30am it had disappeared.

Graham, pictured above, said: “Fords seem very easy to steal.

“I have read they are often stolen and then stripped for their parts.

“I looked after the car as best I could and I have had it since new five years ago.

“It was my pride and joy.”

He reported the theft to police at 6am when his wife discovered it had gone.

And he has been posting images of his motor on car websites.

In the Midlands and north of England,  Ford Fiesta ST’s have vanished in a spate of thefts. And nearly 50 per cent of cars taken this year in Derbyshire were Ford RS and ST models.

Police there warned sporty Ford owners to use extra security, such as a steering wheel brace or wheel clamps.
