Car found abandoned in Bishopbriggs after driver fails to stop for police

Police enquiries are ongoing after a driver abandoned their vehicle after failing to stop for police.

The driver evaded a police signal to stop in the Royston area of the city around 12:25pm this afternoon, with the car then found unattended a short time later near to Kirkintilloch Road in Bishopbriggs.

An eyewitness told Glasgow Live they saw at least five police vehicles outside Poppies Post Office and M&D Greens pharmacy in the area and four police motorcycles parked outside the community hub near Morrisons, as well as a police helicopter.

Police say there is no risk to the wider public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers have attended at Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs after a vehicle which had failed to stop when signalled by police in the Royston area around 12.25pm on Wednesday, 24 February was found unattended nearby.

"Enquiries are ongoing and there is no risk to the wider public."
