Car flips onto side at busy roundabout in south Manchester

A car flipped onto its side at a busy roundabout in south Manchester on Wednesday afternoon. The incident sparked a huge emergency services response on Birchfields Road (A34), in Fallowfield, shortly before 1.30pm.

Police attended and guided building congestion away as paramedics remained at the scene. Popular bus routes from the city centre also had to divert temporarily, causing delays of almost half an hour.

Paramedics were seen tending to people at the scene. The North West Ambulance service later confirmed that a woman was taken to the hospital with non serious injuries.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We received a 999 call at 13.19. We’ve taken a woman to the hospital with non-serious injuries."

Announcing the news, Stagecoach tweeted that their 50 service, which connects Media City to East Didsbury, was forced to divert temporarily

They wrote: "We are sorry to advise that some journeys are currently experiencing delays of up to 25mins, this is due to being on diversion with the RTC on Birchfields Rd, please allow extra time for your journey with us this afternoon.

"Moseley Road services will diver via Old Hall Lane, Wilmslow Road and Moseley Road in both directions until the incident is resolved."
