Car flips onto its side and smashes into a bus... the occupants then fled the scene

A car flipped on it's side and collided with a double decker bus following a smash in Rochdale.

Manchester Road in Castleton was closed in both directions, as emergency services dealt with the incident on Saturday evening.

Pictures from the scene show a grey Volkswagen car on its side, with the back windscreen completely smashed in.

It is not believed anyone was injured during the crash.

Officers attending the scene established that a total of three vehicles were involved in the collision.

The occupants of one of the cars had fled the scene on foot.

A police cordon was put in place around the front of Pilates and Yoga studio.

Witnesses at the scene said a large group of lads were seen in cars chasing each other, but this has not been confirmed by GMP.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 5pm on Saturday 1 August 2020, police were called to reports of a collision on Manchester Road, Rochdale.

"Officers attended and established that three vehicles were involved and the occupants of one of the vehicles had fled the scene on foot.

"No injuries have been reported."
