Two drivers had a very lucky escape this afternoon, after they managed to escape from a serious smash without major injury.

The M602 was shut at Regent Road roundabout for just over an hour this afternoon, after emergency services rushed to the scene of a two-car crash at around 2.30pm.

A black Nissan Navara and a black hatchback were involved in a collision, with the Nissan overturning.

Miraculously, both drivers were able to escape without major injury, and the road was able to reopen swiftly.

A spokesperson for the service said: "We sent two ambulances to the scene.

"It doesn’t look like we’ve taken anyone to hospital."

Pictures from the scene show the damge to both cars were involved in the crash.

The hatchback was left with major damage to the front of the vehicle, whilst the Navara suffered extensive damage to the windscreen, roof, and sides of the vehicle.

It is not known whether any passengers were travelling in the vehicles at the time.

Queues built up in the area after the M602 eastbound exit to the roundabout was closed, forcing all traffic to use the alternative slip road.

The road reopened shortly before 3.40pm, after both vehicles were recovered from the area.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment.
