Car flips and lands on its side after smashing into wall

A car flipped and landed on its side after crashing into a wall in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services, including police , paramedics and firefighters were called to the one car crash, on Merton Road, in Bootle , at around 1am on Saturday.

The driver of the car, understood to be a man in his 80s, is believed to have walked away from his flipped vehicle without serious injury.

Pictures of the smash show the car completely flipped on to its side and with significant damage to its bonnet and bumper.

In one image the entire front of the vehicle can be seen hanging off and debris is strewn on the pavement.

Meanwhile the air bags on both the passenger and driver side can be seen deployed.

In another image the wall which the car is understood to have crashed into, is visible, with many of its bricks dislodged.

The cause of the crash is not known.
