Car fire rages in Glasgow street as cops launch probe into deliberate blaze

A car has been set alight on a Scots road in the early hours of this morning.

The Seat Leon was deliberately set on fire on Ledard Road in the Battlefield area of Glasgow at around 2.30am on Monday, August 23.

Video footage from a local resident showed firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service try to extinguish the inferno.

Two firefighters can be seen trying to dampen the flames and the blaze rages on.

No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze and police confirmed that they are still conducting enquiries into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a car on fire at Ledard Road, Glasgow, around 2.30am on Monday, 23 August.

"The car was a Seat Leon, there were no reported injuries and the fire is being treated as wilful. Enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with any information should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 0327 of 23 August."
