Car fire causes delays on M77 near Glasgow as emergency services tackle blaze

Road users using the M77 to the south of Glasgow have been faced with disruption after a car caught fire on the hard shoulder.

Fire crews rushed to the scene on the M77 Southbound between Junction 4 and 5 near Patterton.

Traffic on the motorway has been disrupted with drivers facing delays as a result. 

Traffic Scotland tweeted: "M77 southbound J4 to J5. Car fire in the hard shoulder, lane 1 of 3 is closed to assist. Fire crews are on scene".

Meanwhile they have also advised drivers to take care on the M8 near Glasgow Airport as there is surface water on the carriageway.

While drivers are advised that a Met Office yellow weather warning for snow is in place covering Strathclyde from 2pm this afternoon until 7pm this evening.
