Car fire blocking two lanes on the M60

Emergency services are tackling a car fire on the M60.

The Ford Focus caught alight on the anticlockwise carriageway, near to junction nine, for Trafford Park.

Firefighters are at the scene tackling the flames.

Drivers are being advised to take care in the area and there are reports of tailbacks building.

North West Motorway Police said all of the people who were inside the car are now safely out of the vehicle.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: "At 8.52pm this morning we received a call about a vehicle fire on the M60.

"The car was on the hard shoulder it was a Ford Focus. Some oil spilled onto the carriageway.

"The incident has been handed over to the vehicles maintenance response team."

A tweet from Highways England said: "M60 J9 Davyhulme, anti-clock between the slips.

"Traffic officers have a lane 1/2 closure out for a vehicle fire.

"@Manchesterfire are on scene dealing with the fire. Please take care in the area."
