Car engulfed in flames causes traffic delays on A4119

Dramatic scenes of a car engulfed in flames shocked road users on Sunday.

The car burst into flames on the A4119 between Talbot Green and Tonyrefail at around 9am.

The blaze caused traffic to build in the area, with many drivers turning in the road to avoid further delays.

A fire crew from Tonypandy arrived at the scene shortly after the fire broke out.

Thick black smoke could be seen billowing out of the car.

South Wales Police were also in attendance, with a police car diverting traffic away from the scene.

The blaze was extinguished within around 40 minutes.

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at around 8.53am on Sunday, December 13.

"We sent one crew from Tonypandy.

"It was an accidental ignition of a vehicle fire.

"Crews used one breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and some small tools.

"We received the stop message at 9.25am."
