Car ends up in lake as driver and passenger taken to hospital

Two people were taken to hospital after a car ended up in a lake in the early hours of today.

Merseyside Police officers were called to Marine Lake in Southport 1am on Tuesday November 2 after reports that a Ford Fiesta had gone into the lake.

Two people, the driver and passenger, managed to get out the car.

They were both taken to hospital as a precaution.

Enquiries are currently ongoing.

The car was recovered from the lake this morning.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO : "We were called at just after 1am today, Tuesday 2 nd November, to reports a Ford Fiesta car had gone into the Marine Lake at Southport.

"The driver and passenger managed to get out of the vehicle and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
