Car drops 30m on to its roof in serious crash in Civic

ACT Fire and Rescue had to extract an injured man from his upturned car in Civic after his car plunged through a roadside barrier, flipped and dropped about 30 metres onto its roof in a construction pit.

The crash happened about 5.15 pm on Wednesday on London Circuit.

The car narrowly missed falling onto heavy machinery working on the site below.

A witness said that construction workers on site had rushed to the man's aid.

The man was taken from the vehicle, assessed by paramedics, and transported to hospital in a stable condition.

What caused the incident is not clear although police suspect the incident may have been caused by the driver having a medical condition.

The incident remains under police investigation.
