Car driven wrong way along Bristol A-road crashes with motorcyclist

A car being driven in the wrong direction along a busy Bristol road collided with an oncoming motorcyclist.

The motorbike rider suffered fractured bones in the crash, which happened last night (Sunday, January 10) on Brunel Way.

This was the second serious crash on the road in as many days, after a fatal collision on Saturday evening.

Avon and Somerset Police shared brief details in a tweet from its roads safety account, just before 11pm last night.

Officers wrote: "We assisted at a collision this evening on Brunel Way in #Bristol.

"This VW was travelling the wrong way, and collided with an oncoming motorcyclist.

"The motorcyclist has suffered fractures."

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and did not state if anyone had been arrested.

They shared an image of the aftermath, showing the damaged bike on the ground and a dark-coloured Volkswagen with half its number plate missing.

The A-road, which runs across the river between Ashton Gate and Spike Island, also saw a fatal crash on Saturday night (January 9).
