Car crashes on M8 after shopping trolley 'thrown off bridge' at Glasgow Fort

A car crashed on the M8 motorway after colliding with a shopping trolley reportedly thrown off a bridge, leaving the driver lucky to be alive.

Police were called to the scene at junction 10, by Glasgow Fort shopping centre, at rush hour on Tuesday night.

The mother of the driver reported the incident in Glasgow Live's Traffic and Travel Facebook group and fumed 'my son was nearly killed' after 'kids threw a shopping trolley off the footbridge'.

A similar incident was also reported on January 2, at the bridge over neary junction 8 of the motorway.

Police have launched an investigation into the shocking incident and are appealing to the public for information.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.10pm on Tuesday, 5 January, police received a report of a car having collided with a shopping trolley while travelling on the M8 southbound at junction 10.

"Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information can contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 2142 of Tuesday, 5 January, 2021."
