Car crashes off M4 and ends up in a tree after driver loses control in wet conditions

The driver of this car had a "miraculous escape" after crashing off the M4 in wet conditions.

The crash happened in the early hours of Thursday morning as heavy rain hit parts of south Wales.

Police said it happened near Bridgend and fire crews assisted them at the scene.

Miraculously, the driver managed to walk away with only slight injuries.

South Wales Police road traffic officers shared pictures of the accident as a warning to others.

They said: "Miraculous escape for this driver who has lost control in wet conditions. Slight injuries.

"Please drive to the conditions as it's extremely wet on Thursday morning."

South Wales Police tweeted: "There are some poor driving conditions out there this morning."

The Met Office forecast for Thursday is for a "wet day with frequent showers merging to longer spells of rain during the day".

There were also reports of accident on A48 at the Cross Hands roundabout on Thursday morning.
