A driver crashed their vehicle into the White House gate Wednesday morning, leading to a massive police presence and local streets being temporarily shut down.
The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Secret Service flocked to the scene near the barricade at Connecticut Avenue and H Street Northwest after the incident occurred at approximately 6:37 a.m. ET.
The driver, who has not been publicly identified, was detained and brought in for questioning.
It’s unclear what led to the crash at this time but a police spokesperson told CBS News that no injuries have been reported.
“Secret Service police officers with the Uniformed Division are looking into a suspicious vehicle,” a spokesperson for the Secret Service said.
“The driver of the car has been detained and is being questioned. Various entrances and the streets are temporarily closed as teams conduct their work. We will provide additional information once we get updated from officers later this morning,” the spokesperson added.
This is the second time in a matter of months that a vehicle has collided with a White House structure. In October, a driver was arrested after ramming their car into the security gate.
