
A CAR crashed into traffic lights at the intersection of Hunter Street and Stewart Avenue in Newcastle West causing closures and long delays.
The accident occurred about 12.40pm Monday, closing one of three southbound lanes on Stewart Avenue and parts of Hunter Street, damaging the traffic signals.
Paramedics treated a 35-year-old man at the scene. He has since been transported to John Hunter Hospital with minor injuries.
Emergency services and traffic crews remained on site until 1.40pm as clean-up crews worked to remove debris on the road.
