Car crashes into Tim Hortons drive-thru in Linwood

This was the scene at the Tim Hortons cafe and coffee shop in Linwood this afternoon as a car crashed into the drive-thru.

The incident happened just after 1pm when a car came off the roundabout, across the carriageway and into the drive-thru at the side of the building.

It hit two other cars but thankfully no-one was injured. There was damage to the exterior of the shop and some outside seating.

A passer-by told the Paisley Daily Express: “If anyone had been sitting outside they would have been goners.”

A spokeswoman for Tim Hortons confirmed the drive-thru reopened a few hours after the crash.

She said: "We can confirm that there was no injuries to either our customers or team members today.

"Linwood drive-thru restaurant is now fully open and we look forward to welcoming customers from the community.”

A spokeswoman for Paisley Police said: “We were called at 1.15pm to the incident.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

The Tim Hortons at Phoenix Retail Park was the branch’s first drive thru in Scotland when it opened last December

Tim Hortons opened its first store in Canada in 1964 – with eight out of 10 cups of coffee sold in the country bought from their stores.

It opened its first British shop in Glasgow last year and has also recently opened another branch in Renfrew Road Retail Park in Paisley.

The café is famed for its coffee and doughnuts, but also serves sandwiches, wraps and paninis.
