Car 'crashes into' Tesco as customers inside left terrified

Fridges "tilted" and products appeared to fall off shelves after a car reportedly crashed into a Tesco Express store.

At around 11am this morning, a customer had an accident in their car outside the Wavertree High Street store.

One shopper, who was inside the store at the time, explained how scary the situation was, saying it appeared someone had driven into the side of a wall.

They added how fridges and products became displaced due to the force of the incident.

Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service were not called to the scene and no one was injured.

A Tesco spokesperson told the ECHO : “Unfortunately, a customer had an accident in their car at our Clock Tower Express store in Liverpool.

"Thankfully no one was injured and the store was able to stay open.

"We are working to repair the minor damage as soon as possible.

"We apologise for any inconvenience while this work is carried out.”
