Car crashes into Stapleford wall of house as 2 run from scene

Shocked residents watched on as a car crashed into the wall of a house - as the driver and passenger fled from the scene.

Police were called to Hickings Lane in Stapleford at around 9pm on Wednesday January 27.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman confirmed a man and a female occupant of the car ran away from the scene.

The force is now making enquiries into the crash and appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Stapleford Fire Station added on its Facebook page: "This evening just after 9pm our team were mobilised to a report of a car on fire on Hickings Lane near to Washington Drive, Stapleford.

"Police officers, paramedics and firefighters all attended the scene quickly. No persons were trapped and both had left the scene before our arrival. We made the vehicles safe before handing over the incident to police. Police are investigating."

Police have asked anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote incident number 677 on January 27.
