Car crashes into Kilmarnock shop sparking huge emergency response

A car ploughed into the side of a Kilmarnock shop yesterday afternoon – sparking a huge emergency response.

Fire engines and police cars raced to Halfords at the Glencairn Retail Park just before 1pm.

Bricks and debris were strewn all over the ground with both the police and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attending the incident.

Police said today that there were no apparent injuries and that the driver arranged for recovery of the vehicle.

Halfords was open as normal earlier this morning and the hole left by the vehicle has been boarded up.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We were called around 12.50pm to a report of one car crash at the Glencairn Retail park, just off Holm Road, Kilmarnock.

"No apparent injuries and the owner arranged recovery of the vehicle."
