Emergency services rush to Fife road after car crashes into ditch

A car has toppled onto its side after veering off a busy road in Fife and crashing into a ditch.

The alarm was raised shortly after 5pm on Tuesday, November 22 when officers were alerted to a vehicle having swerved off the Cluny to Strathore Road, prompting them to rush to the scene.

Photos taken at the crash site, which were shared on social media, show what appears to be a red Vauxhall lying on its side on top of a mountain of branches, twigs and other shrubbery, after having careered from the busy route.

The motor seems to be tilted at an angle, with its front bonnet having ploughed into the grass. The car door has been flung open and a woman stands beside it, peering worriedly into the driver's seat.

A stream of traffic can also be seen building in the lane adjacent. One witness told the Record how he attempted to assist the victim, and that he has serious concerns about the road in question.

Stephen Mahony said: "The road has been really bad with the weather we've been experiencing. It was flooded the other day and the amount of surface water and pot holes it brings with it is treacherous.

"The ice we are about to encounter will only open up these pot holes even more. I did ask the lady if there was anything I could do for her, but someone was already with her."

Police Scotland confirmed that they attended the collision, and confirmed that no one was injured or required hospital treatment as a result.
