Car crashes into bushes near Byker fire station after two-vehicle collision

A car ploughed into some bushes near the fire station in Byker after crashing with another vehicle.

Police were called to the scene at about 5.12pm on Thursday after the two-car collision in Union Road.

Pictures taken at the scene show one of the cars in the hedge without its front bumper, which was broken off in the crash.

Nobody was injured as a result of the collision.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "We received a report of a two-vehicle accident at about 5.12pm on Thursday.

"Police attended the scene. No road closures were put in place and there were no injuries."

A recovery vehicle was used to remove both of the cars and the road was clear at just after 7pm.

A witness reported that there had been damage to the front of the other vehicle.
