Car 'crashes into bus and three parked cars' in north Manchester

Several roads have been closed by police after reports of a collision involving a bus and at least three cars.

Charlestown Road in Blackley is closed in both directions between Grange Park Road and Booth Hall Road due to a road traffic collision, Transport for Greater Manchester said in a tweet.

Pictures from the scene showed a number of damaged cars including a black Audi Q7.

Eyewitness Robert Duck told the M.E.N: "The Audi tried to overtake a bus at speed, it hit the back of the bus and then hit three parked cars.

"Charlestown Road is completely closed off.

"The police are here but no ambulances.

"I don't think anyone's hurt.

"The three cars that were parked are a total write off. "

"The Audi stopped about an inch away from another one.

"It hit the bus bad as well - it was a heavy impact."

It's believed the bus involved was a Stagecoach 118 service.

Transport for Greater Manchester is advising drivers to avoid the area.

They said in a tweet: "Police incident Blackley. Charlestown Road is closed in both directions between Grange Park Road and Booth Hall Road because of an RTC.

"Please use an alternative route."

The M.E.N has been unable to reach Greater Manchester Police for comment.
